For Seattle’s premier sales and marketing specialists, the focus of this week’s team meeting centered around President Tofiq Bolwala’s favorite entrepreneur and TV personality, Mark Cuban and the role television plays as a channel of inspiration.
While television is often associated with being lazy or winding down, F.A.S.T. Global Marketing’s CEO wanted to enlighten his workforce of the inspirational and educational qualities in a bid to encourage them to tune into interesting and relevant content during their downtime.
The CEO spoke specifically about how a television show led to his discovery of billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Mark Cuban. Mr. Bolwala revealed how he was first introduced to Mark when he caught an episode of popular reality TV show, Shark Tank. Formatted around the concept of Dragon’s Den, Shark Tank is an American reality show which invites ambitious entrepreneur-contestants to pitch their enterprises to a panel of “Shark” investors, including Mark Cuban. The Sharks then choose whether or not they wish to invest in the individuals following their business presentation.
Before launching F.A.S.T. Global Marketing and his successful career in the industry, the CEO saw Mark on TV and consequently began following his career movements, quickly realizing the two of them had a great deal in common. As a fellow sports fan, Tofiq Bolwala was interested to hear Mark Cuban had bought the Dallas Mavericks back in 2000, for a whopping $285 million. The team was not performing as well as they once had and as a life-long basketball fan and Mavericks season ticket holder, working in the NBA was one of Mark’s dreams. Since buying the team, the business leader has become the first NBA team owner to start a personal sports blog and quickly became known for insisting on sitting among fans during games, in a bid to revamp team morale.
In 2011, the Dallas Mavericks beat the Miami Heat and took the title for the first time in history. As an avid sports fan, this story paired with Mark’s impressive list of entrepreneurial endeavors, caused Mr. Bolwala to develop a newfound respect and appreciation for the mogul’s achievements. He has since cited the NBA owner as one of his biggest inspirations and someone he greatly looks up to.
Although the CEO realizes once the work day is over most individuals want to go home, switch off and put their feet up, he highlighted the fact the most successful business owners in the world make a habit of proactively educating themselves outside of working hours too. As a huge fan of Mark Cuban’s famous show, Shark Tank, he has made a point of recommending the program to his contractors as he believes TV of this caliber can be both inspiring and entertaining.
